2018 Supporters

Thank You to our 2018 Donors & Supporters

Three years ago, the CVC Foundation launched our Protect, Connect, Sustain Campaign with a goal of raising $5 million dollars in 5 years (2016-2020). Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, funders and sponsors, we are thrilled to share that we have already raised $3.6 million in the first three years of the campaign!

Our donors have helped some great work get done this year, including:

  • Implementing the Credit Valley Trail (CVT) Strategy to advance a shared community vision of a 100 kilometre continuous, connected river valley trail from the headwaters in Orangeville through Caledon, Halton Hills, Brampton to the shore of Lake Ontario in Mississauga. A key focus of our work in 2018 was on working with the CVT Indigenous Roundtable to create an Indigenous Experience Plan for the trail and to host the inaugural Trailhead Indigenous event in Port Credit.
  • Engaging the power of watershed businesses through CVC’s Corporate Engagement Program! An amazing group of 739 corporate citizens participated in 16 stewardship events and helped restore 2.044 ha of the watershed through the planting of 3079 trees, wildflower seeding, invasive species removal and trail maintenance.
  • Cultivating the green leaders of tomorrow through the engagement of 2,520 high school students annually in CVC’s Conservation Youth Corps Summer program, Branch Out program and the Frontline Leadership program. Students contributed a collective 11,055 hours to tree planting, restoring aquatic stream habitats, assisting in wildlife and ecosystem monitoring, removing invasive species and maintaining local community gardens.
  • Educating and inspiring young minds through the delivery of CVC’s Why Wetlands? program. This unique and impactful experience for grade 4 students includes a curriculum-based video, an in-class activity, and a field trip to a local wetland for a hands-on experience in wetland conservation.
  • Enhancing the visitor experience at CVC’s Conservation Areas through trail upgrades at Rattray Marsh Conservation Area and amphitheatre and fishing pier upgrades at Island Lake Conservation Area.
