October 9, 2014 – (MISSISSAUGA, ON) – As part of Enersource’s ongoing commitment to the local environment, the company is working with Credit Valley Conservation to restore Mississauga’s tree canopy after last year’s devastating ice storm.
At an all-day event, Enersource volunteers helped plant some of the 1,500 trees donated by the company at Meadowvale Conservation Area. Additional donated trees will be planted across Mississauga over the course of the next year by the Conservation Youth Corps. This donation is the result of an initiative launched last spring, when Enersource issued a challenge to its customers to reduce paper waste by switching to e-billing. For every customer that switched, Enersource committed to donate a tree to help restore Mississauga’s green landscape.
“The success of the e-billing campaign shows that we have incredible customers, who take energy conservation and the environment seriously,” said Peter Gregg, President and CEO of Enersource. “These trees are just one small way that we can give back to the community we are proud to serve.”
Enersource is an active participant in protecting the local environment. In 2012, the local utility became a founding ‘Guardian of the Credit’ of CVC, and often gives its employees the opportunity to volunteer for programs that include planting trees and other environmental stewardship initiatives.
“When individuals and corporations combine their efforts to care for the environment, everybody benefits,” said Terri LeRoux, Executive Director of the Credit Valley Conservation Foundation. “We are grateful to Enersource and all of its customers who chose to support this initiative.”
Enersource is one of Ontario’s most reliable energy providers, serving over 200,000 residential and commercial customers across Mississauga. It is a diversified energy and technologies company that serves customers through the distribution of electricity and the delivery of services related to the design, operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
