News Release: 10th Annual Conservation Gala Raises $170K

May 14, 2015 – Credit Valley Conservation Foundation (CVCF) hosted its tenth annual Conservation Gala on May 7, raising $170,000 in support of a thriving environment that protects, connects and sustains us.

The funds will support Credit Valley Conservation programs such as the Conservation Youth Corps (CYC) and the Core 10 Conservation Areas by furthering the objectives of each of these programs, ultimately ensuring a healthier and greener Credit River watershed.

“We are investing in youth environmental education so we can help cultivate the green leaders of tomorrow” said Terri LeRoux, Executive Director, CVCF “we are also investing in our protected natural spaces to ensure that our Conservation Area visitors have a unique and meaningful experience every time they visit. Visits that will create affiliation and association with our cause and build support.”

CYC is a youth program that provides incredible environmental focused volunteer opportunities for high school students in the Credit River area. Participants gain practical experience in conservation and natural resource management in a safe and structured environment.

The conservation areas of CVC represent a cross section of natural and cultural landscapes that characterize the Credit River watershed. Rare flora and fauna, habitats, ecosystems and cultural heritage features are all protected within these areas.

The gala, held at Lionhead Golf Club in Brampton, was presented by title sponsor, Enersource. Nearly 350 environmentalists, business people, community members, politicians and guests attended.

“We are thrilled that the Conservation Gala raised $170,000” said Jim Muscat, Chair, CVCF. “We want to thank more than 100 companies who supported the event through sponsorship, donations, attendance and through their commitment to protecting, restoring, and sustaining the Credit River environment. We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2016.”

The gala was a tremendous success with the generous support of major corporate sponsors which included: Enersource, DG Group, Aquatech, ConDrain and R&M Construction.
